The olive green uniform of the Sri Lanka Army became a second skin to me for a period of seven years. I traversed all 27 of our island nation's corners, providing services as varied as the terrain, from busy medical stations to tranquil training grounds. My discipline was shaped by basic Army training, and my sympathy for my fellow soldiers and the citizens we protected was deeply rooted from a medical assistant course. I gained steadfast determination to adapting, leading, and serving in both advanced dress stations and peaceful base camps. To this day, I bear the permanent scars of that service: a resilient spirit, duty-driven dedication, and a heart that will always be connected to the Sri Lanka Army's relentless pursuit of service.
